Ishmael Chapter 9 By Mitchel Pini and Morgan Denton

1. The fruit from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil provides the illusion that humans understand the ability to choose whether or not something should live or die. This is a device originally intended for the Gods and so when we consume it we believe ourselves equal to Gods, the conquerors of all.

2. Cain and Abel are constructs of societal reflection: Cain being the model "Taker" and Abel being the model "Leaver." The idea is that the Taker's creation story has been modified to give hope to the leavers, misleading them from realizing they're actually destroying the world.

3. The Agricultural Revolution simply started, but it never ended. I suspect the reason behind this is because the end is fated to coincide with the end of the world, after the takers have finally depleted all resources on earth.

4. The Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil just happens to be a large plot device in this chapter, but as it turns out this is simply another allusion to Eve. As it so happens, there is another tree in the garden called the tree of life which is an allusion to Adam. These two coincide with each other as the perfected man symbolizes the Tree of Life and the imperfect man eats from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. Eve is a construct that represents woman in their attempt to realize the ideal of creation; an imperfect construct. Don't mean to be sexist here...
